1. How can you offer such low prices?
The simple answer: Economies of scale. With over 40 servers online and several hundred satisfied customers, Empowering Media, Inc. (our parent company) has the server and network capacity to be able to offer reliable multiple domain hosting for some of the lowest prices around. Since we own all of our own servers and have plenty of bandwidth to spare, our monthly cost to bring you high-uptime, reliable hosting is quite low.

2. What methods of support do you offer? How quickly are support tickets answered?
We offer both Email and live chat. You can submit at at ticket at customer service portal at: http://www.supportem.com/. Tickets are generally answered within 30 minutes. Our support staff is available 24x7.

In order to minimize costs and give you the most hosting plan for your money, we currently do not offer phone support.

3. What type of servers do you have? Where are they housed?
Unlike many other providers, we manage and own ALL of our hardware and co-locate at two different tier 1 data centers. The servers that 10for10 customers use are a minimum dual Xeon 2.8GHz with 2GB RAM and 2x250GB hard drives in a hardware RAID 1 array. All servers run CentOS 3 with the DirectAdmin control panel.

All of our servers are backed up daily to a backup server, backups are moved once a month offsite.

You can learn more about the datacenter and servers we use at the Our Network page under About Us.

4. Where can I learn more about the people behind 10for10?
10for10 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Empowering Media, Inc. As a Empowering Media customer, you will receive the same fantastic support that has made our current customers so excited about our service.

5. Do you offer a reseller plan? What is the difference from shared hosting?
Yes, for any of the plans listed add an additional $5.00/month. Our reseller servers are seperate from our shared hosting so if you are an existing customer it will require a move of your site. Differences from our reseller hosting from our shared hosting:

6. How do I know how much disk space and bandwidth my site(s) will need?
This is a very common question. In fact, it’s probably the most common question we receive as a web hosting company. Unfortunately, there is no good answer.
One of the reasons we developed the 10for10 plans with a set limit of domain names or websites to be hosted was that we thought it would help people immediately gauge which plan they need. Obviously, if you have only one domain name, the 1 Website plan is your best bet to start off with, whereas if you have more than 10 domain names, you will need at least the 20/20 plan to start.

If you have a current hosting provider, log into your control panel there and see if there is a utility to see how much bandwidth and disk space your site(s) are using. That’s a good place to start. If you are starting a new website, or don’t have that capability with your current hosting provider, we generally recommend that you start off with the smaller end of our hosting plans and move up as required. There are no additional fees to move up to the next higher plan; we’ll simply pro-rate the plan for the rest of your billing period and you’ll be upgraded as soon as you pay the pro-rated invoice. So, if you don’t know, start off with the 1 Website package or the 10for10 package and upgrade as you need to.

Our control panel will tell you how much bandwidth and disk space you are using at any given point in time, so a month or two into your hosting, you should be able to more accurately gauge how much disk space and bandwidth your sites are using.

7. What happens if I run out of bandwidth or disk space? Do you charge for bandwidth overages?
If you run out of disk space, you’ll be sent an email stating that your account is out of disk space, and you’ll need to log in through the control panel or FTP and delete some files before you can add more files. Remember, if you run out of disk space, you will not be able to receive email to your account until enough disk space is cleared for the emails to go through. For this reason, watch the amount of disk space used very carefully!

If you run out of bandwidth for the month, your websites will be , and will be unable to be viewed. We do not charge for bandwidth overages for this reason – it is impossible to go over since your site will be suspended when it reaches its limit. If you run out of bandwidth, you will need to upgrade to the next highest plan. When you upgrade, we will not charge any additional setup fees; we will simply pro-rate the new plan’s price over the remainder of your billing period.

8. Do you have shopping cart software installed?
Yes, we do. OSCommerce is pre-installed and ready to go on our servers. If you need specific shopping cart software installed, please ask our support team. Our support team can also help you set up a merchant account and SSL certificate – just ask!

9. What assurances do I have that you won’t go out of business?
Empowering Media, Inc. has been in the web hosting business for over 6 years. We are currently profitable and have several hundred satisfied customers and over 40 servers online. We are privately funded with very little debt. Reliable multiple domain hosting is our passion and we work full-time to provide you with fantastic service and support. Our proven history says it all – we aren’t going anywhere.

10. Do you allow adult content?
The simple answer is no. Empowering Media reserves the right to refuse or discontinue service for any web site that it considers unsuitable, undesirable, or otherwise unacceptable, pursuant to our service contract and policies. At the present time, this includes most adult-content sites.
